On July 25, 2019, the summer social practice research team of the College of Chemistry and Pharmacy of Guangxi Normal University, under the leadership of the instructor Mr. Yang, arrived at the planting base of the Wanjiaxing Fruit and Vegetable Professional Cooperative in Datang Town, Zhangpu City to plant the sugar orange. The current situation and the problems of fruit preservation and sales were investigated. The activity aims to enhance the social practice ability of college students, so that college students can fully understand the current production and sales status of sugar oranges, use their own knowledge, write research reports, and contribute ideas and help the rural poverty alleviation work.

 After the research team arrived at the destination, they were assisted by the relevant leaders of the Zhangpu Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee and the Chairman of the People's Congress of Datang Town. They conducted on-the-spot investigation activities on the planting base, and at the same time, through the introduction of the responsible person, the team members learned about the mountain planting base. The existing fruit forest is more than 3,600 mu, and now some of the sugar orange has been 6 years old. Such large-scale planting is inseparable from the support of science and technology. In the subsequent research process, the team conducted a special interview with the general manager of the planting base. The team members learned that the plant's sugar orange planting uses intelligent sprinkler irrigation and drones. Aerial photography monitoring and spraying pesticides, thereby replaced workers' work and solved the difficult employment problems. At the same time, because the orange sugar of the granulated sugar is thin, the fruit is soft and easy to be damaged; it is not suitable for preservation. The production of the base sugar orange is too large, and the factors such as centralized listing have made it difficult to carry out large-scale sales online. The sales channels are mainly offline, and the sales direction is mainly in the northern part of the province. Throughout the interview process, all members of the team listened carefully and focused on the corresponding notes in order to go back and organize the relevant materials.

 In this research activity, the team members not only exercised their practical ability, opened up their horizons, increased their knowledge, but also had a more comprehensive understanding of the current sugar orange planting industry. At the same time, using their knowledge, they will solve outstanding problems in planting, put forward some reasonable suggestions, give some help to the sugar orange planting base, practice the concept of college students as a social service, and help the development of rural entrepreneurship.
