On October 11-13, the 8th Lingnan Organic Chemistry Forum, hosted by the State Key Laboratory of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering of Medicinal Resources, was established at the Guilin Hotel. Academician Chen Fen-er from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and more than 30 academic leaders in organic chemistry and more than 470 teachers and students from 51 universities and research institutes in 10 provinces and cities across the country attended the meeting. The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Professor Su Guifa, Vice President of the University. Professor Huang Wenzhao, Vice President of the University, attended the meeting and gave a welcome speech. The founder of Lingnan Organic Chemistry Forum and Professor Guo Qingqing Huanfeng of South China University of Technology gave an opening speech. The teachers of the relevant disciplines of our school, the graduate students, and the students of the experimental class of the chemical exclusive talents participated in the forum.

Vice-President Huang Wenzhao expressed a warm welcome to the representatives from all over the country in the welcome speech and introduced the development process of our school and the State Key Laboratory of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering of Pharmaceutical Resources and the Department of Chemistry of the Ministry of Education. The construction situation, he said, on the 86th birthday of Guangxi Normal University, the official opening of the "8th Lingnan Organic Chemistry Forum" organized by our school, is of great significance. I believe that this forum will help our school. Construction and development of national key laboratories and chemistry disciplines. In his opening speech, Professor Jiang Huanfeng warmly congratulated Guangxi Normal University on its 86th birthday. He also extended thanks to the conference team for their efforts in organizing this forum and said that they will continue to use the Lingnan Organic Chemistry Forum as an academic exchange platform to promote the development of Lingnan organic chemistry.

The 8th Lingnan Organic Chemistry Forum is an academic conference with the largest number of attendees, the highest representative specifications, the highest number of academic papers, the highest quality, and the most abundant exchanges. The representatives include academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and young people in the Ministry of Science and Technology. The winners of scientific and technological innovation leading talents, the national enrollment of 100 million talents, the national Jieqing, the national excellent youth, the winners of the New Century Excellent Talents Support Program of the Ministry of Education, and the “Minutes of Young People” of the Central Organization Department were selected by nearly 30 people. The conference received 170 academic papers and 63 wall posters.

The main purpose of this Lingnan Organic Chemistry Forum is to strengthen the links, understanding and exchanges among researchers in the organic chemistry disciplines in Lingnan, promote the development and growth of disciplines, enhance the ability to win major projects and achieve landmark achievements, and make Lingnan region become organic in China and one of the important research bases for chemistry. The forum has a main venue and two sub-meeting venues, with 12 conference reports and 30 invitation reports. Through academic reports, experts and scholars have conducted in-depth exchanges on current hotspots and difficulties in organic synthesis, natural product chemistry, bioorganic and pharmaceutical chemistry, and further promoted the development and cooperation in the field of organic chemistry in Lingnan. The academic committee of the forum also selected the POSTER exhibition awards. After the report, the experts presented awards and prizes to the 14 students who won the award.

It is reported that the "Lingnan Organic Chemistry Forum" was initiated by Professor Qing Jiang Huanfeng of South China University of Technology and supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. It was held in South China University of Technology in 2009 and was rotated by universities and research institutes in Lingnan. The contract has become an important academic exchange platform for organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry in Lingnan, and has played an important role in promoting the discipline construction and scientific research in the region.
