On October 24th, the “2015 National Postdoctoral Academic Forum on Medicinal Chemistry” was held in the National Key Laboratory Breeding Base of the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Pharmaceutical Resources and Molecular Engineering. Pan Zhijin, Deputy Director of the Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Guangxi District, Huang Chusheng, deputy director of Guangxi Normal University, Luo Xiaodong, Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Phytochemistry and Western Resources Sustainable Use, Tang Lanxing, Director of Guangxi Overseas Students and Expert Service Center and human resources in Guangxi, Wang Longjuan, Deputy Director of the Department of Professional and Technical Personnel Management of the Department of Resources and Social Security, Professor Liang Hong, President of our school, and the head of the School of Chemistry and Pharmacy attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony of the forum was hosted by the head of the Personnel Department of our school.

The forum was jointly organized by the National Postdoctoral Management Committee Office, the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Human Resources and Social Security Department. More than 100 PhD supervisors, postdoctoral fellows, doctoral representatives and graduate students from related disciplines from 36 universities and research institutes and enterprises from home and abroad attended the forum.

On behalf of the school, President Liang Hong expressed warm welcome to the leaders, guests and post-doctors. He briefly introduced the profound development of our school and the achievements of our school in pharmacy research in recent years. The hope is that the forum can be held for all the participants to set up a high-level academic exchange platform in the field of medicinal chemistry, inspiring researchers to create new ideas for medicinal chemistry research, and promote the new development of the medicinal chemistry discipline in our school.

Deputy Director Pan Zhijin delivered a speech on behalf of the organizer. Deputy Director Pan introduced the economic development of Guangxi in recent years and said that Guangxi is improving the speed of economic development, but the fundamental problem that hinders development has been solved. In the new round of economic development, Guangxi is an important gateway to the “Belt and Road”, a new growth point for economic development in Central and South-Western China, and technological innovation is the top priority. He hopes that this forum will stimulate the enthusiasm of Guangxi's scientific and technological innovation and promote the economic development of Guangxi.

The forum was based on the theme of “Pharmaceutical Chemistry and New Drug Research”. The delegates fully demonstrated the new ideas in the field of medicinal chemistry, focusing on the frontier topics in the field of medicinal chemistry such as research and innovation of drug structure and activity, drug design and drug discovery including new discoveries and new results. The forum was mainly conducted in the form of a combination of academic reports and on-site exchanges. Researcher Luo Xiaodong, winner of the National Natural Science Foundation Outstanding Youth Fund project, first gave a special invitation to the forum entitled “New Structure of Alkaloids, Bioactivity and Creation of New Drugs”. In the report, he has sorted out the ideas and methods of new drug research from his nearly 20 years of research accumulation, which is refreshing. In addition, 16 PhDs from Sun Yat-Sen University, Lanzhou University, Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Institute of Disease Control, Parasitic Diseases, China Pharmaceutical University, Harbin Medical University, Sichuan University, Zhengzhou University, Guangxi Medical University, etc., and postdoctoral fellows have shared their latest research results. The report focuses on diseases such as cancer, Malaria, and Parkinson, and covers the design and synthesis of active drugs such as flavonoid derivatives and nanofullerene derivatives. Pharmacology, pre-clinical research and other content, as well as a wealth of content of the company's representatives on the transfer of raw materials and process technology. The venue was packed with an active atmosphere and was an academic feast at the forefront of the medicinal chemistry discipline.

This forum is the first post-doctoral academic forum of our school since the establishment of the postdoctoral research station in 2007. It is also a test of the postdoctoral research and management level of our school. The construction of postdoctoral mobile stations will have a good promotion effect.
