From July 17th to 19th, the 17th International Symposium on Medicinal Bioinorganic Chemistry-Satellite Meeting of ICBIC-17 was hosted by our school. The State Key Laboratory Breeding Base was jointly established with the Ministry of Medicine and Molecular Engineering. Nearly forty experts and scholars from the United States, Britain, Italy, Australia, Hong Kong and other countries and regions, as well as more than 80 graduate students from related disciplines attended the conference. Professor Liang Hong, the principal of the school and the director of the key laboratory, gave a welcome speech on behalf of the organizer and presided over the academic report of some units.

The conference has arranged a total of 8 invited reports, all of which are internationally recognized experts and scholars in the field of medicinal and inorganic chemistry, including the Royal Academy of Sciences and Professor Peter J. Sadler of the University of Warwick, “Organometallic and photoactivated anticancer complexes: Redox, "Catalysis and systems pharmacology", "Coordination chemistry in the targeted delivery of anticancer agents" by Prof. Trevor Hambley, Academician of the Australian Academy of Sciences, Dean of the Faculty of Science, University of Sydney, and "New targets for platinum-based therapeutics" by Professor Nicholas P. Farrell of the Virginia Commonwealth University. Professor Chen Zhenfeng, of our school, made an academic report entitled “Metal complexes of TCM active ingredient oxo(iso)aporphine: In vitro and in vivo anticancer activity”. The conference report topics cover the latest research on the design, mechanism of action, clinical application of inorganic drugs and important advances in anti-tumor and inorganic drug research.

In addition, during the booth of the conference, the participants fully exchanged and displayed their new achievements in the research work. The participants exchanged and discussed the interested posters. The venue was full of academic atmosphere.

At the closing ceremony of the conference, the chairman of the 17th International Conference on Bioinorganic Chemistry and Professor Guo Zijian of Nanjing University gave high praise to the convening of this international conference. This meeting is important for promoting the international cooperation and exchanges of our school, improving the level of construction of chemical and pharmaceutical disciplines, and improving the research level of relevant fields in the national key laboratory breeding base for medicinal resources chemical and pharmaceutical molecular engineering, and expanding and promoting the international influence.
